i heart lincoln road.

Taking FULL advantage of a Saturday with NOTHING to do! Yipee!

After picking up Dan and Jen we stopped at Pizza Rustica for a DELISH slice of Spinach and Blu Cheese! After my uze (short slang for usual) at Starbucks (a cinnamon dolce {yum}) we walked around, sat around, people watched, read mag's at Books and Books, etc...

Here are a few shots from my new trusty Canon G7!
Sometimes I don't enjoy carrying around all of my bulky equipment, so my Daddy bought me a G7 for Christmas... It is wonderful!
Thanks Pops! I heart you!
This is Honey Child... our daughter!
While most of our friends have kids, we have a pug!
Hey, if you can't beat em', join em'!
This is one of my top 2 of the day! This photo looks ridiculous blown up!
Self-Portrait of a SLOB! Geez, brush my hair much?!
Love his kicks!

My DEAREST Fufi...

This post is dedicated to my beautiful friend Nicole... also known as Fufi...
Known Aliases: Cuscooly Bella de su Mama!

Nicole recently found a job on Craigs List which (she didn’t know then) would change her life...
She is a Nanny to 2 beautiful boys (which will be referred to as J & J)...
This is the perfect job for Nic because she is naturally very mothering and loving...

Quick re-cap on the past couple of years of Nic’s life: She went to school (for what seems like 10 years) and got her degree in Fashion Merchandising... She received an awesome internship with Nordstrom, but after a Mission’s Trip to Dominican Republic she realized that there is WAY more to life then buying your kids $100 pair of jeans that they’ll wear for a month and they’ll never fit into AGAIN! Vanity = Insanity! Teaching was her next option (still is one) but, she found herself trying to find a job as a teacher during Miami-Dade’s Hiring FREEZE! Soooo, a bunch of her friends were telling her “Dude, you’d be an awesome Nanny!”... (There has been a Baby Boom at our church... kids popping out of every woman... It’s an easy way to get PLENTY of experience with babies...) So, she found a Nanny job on Craigs List, applied, and got it!

Anyhow, when I say “my beautiful friend”, I truly mean MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND! She has been a nanny for this particular family for about 4 months... J & J have become almost her own... She loves them so much and this is why I truly feel she has decided to move to North Carolina with this family for 6 months. Over the past 4 months she has lived in Miami Beach, North Carolina and Ohio... Only someone with a heart as big as Nic’s could leave her family and friends behind and dedicate this time completely to J & J (which by the way, J is 2 years old and J is 6 months old)... She is selfless... and loves with the love of Christ.

Nic, I salute you babe.... I could’ve never done it.
I love you and Miss you... I can’t wait to see you...
Pedro and I are going to “road trip” our behinds to N.C.!

I leave you with a few photos of Nicole’s most recent place of residence....
(Well, before she left to N.C.!)

Yeap, she lived in the Versace MANSION.
Incredible. Her, bosses own it.

Shepard Fairey

This is one of my "Heroes" (Shepard "Obey" Fairey) He recently was on the The Colbert Report for his famous Obama poster which by the way became the official Obama campaign poster. Shepard Fairey began as a Graffiti artist and while in College (Rhode Island School of Design) he developed a poster that would change his life which was the official Obey Campaign called "Obey Giant". He now is a world wide known artist and also has his own clothing line. Here is the video clip of his interview on The Colbert Report. Enjoy!

The Shack

Thanks for setting a precedent Pedro....
My “book blog” was coming... eventually... but since my husband has decided to speak of his, I will speak of mine.

The Shack... this is the book I currently have my nose stuck in...
(Ah, fulfilling New Years Rez No. 02). I am not ashamed to say that YES, like every other tween on the planet I read the Twilight Series and loved it, but The Shack is a whole other ball game.

Amidst his Great Sadness, Mack receives a letter from (who he thinks) God. You see, Mack’s daughter Missy was abducted 3 years back while they were on a family camping trip. Missy’s blood stained dress was found in an abandoned shack deep in the woods, miles from where they were camping. The letter that Mack receives simply says: “It’s been a while. I’ve missed you. I’ll be at the shack next weekend if you want to get together. – Papa” (Papa is what Nan (Mack’s wife) refers to God as.)
He ends up going back to the Shack... and I don’t want to give too much away but God is portrayed as a big black woman... Now I know this sounds unrealistic and maybe a little bit strange, but the book is incredible.
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite excerpts from the book:

God speaking
“Mack, I am neither male nor female, even though both genders are derived from my nature. If I choose to appear to you as a man or a woman, it’s because I love you. For me to appear to you as a woman and suggest that you call me Papa is simply to mix metaphors, to help you keep from falling so easily back to your religious conditioning.”

Oh Lord, snap me out of my religious conditioning!

Peace, Love, Him...

Processing Through Pain..

So I came across a really interesting book on a website that I usually visit (churchmarketingsucks.com). The book is called "Mad Church Disease". I downloaded one of the chapters of the book and the chapter was called Processing through pain. Not to long ago a really close friend of mine had a situation with a friend that did not end up very good. My close friend had not invited his friend to an outing and he got real bothered by it. To make a long story short he received a text from his friend saying "make pretend we don't exist" My friends reply to that was "Im sorry if I hurt you, but that was not my intention......" The following couple of text just got worse because his friend got real personal and started bringing up the past and real personal stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with what had happen. So your asking your self "What does this story about your friend have to do with the book?" Well the point of me talking about this book is because the chapter I downloaded was about forgiveness. One thing that the writer talks about is praying for the person who hurt you and how in doing so it draws you so much closer to the heart of God. It's not your first reaction to pray for someone who hurts you, but it's the right action.
There is a story in the bible about a servant who owes his master a large sum of money of around $10,000,000. The servant begs the master to forgive him of his debt because he is unable to pay it. The master has compassion on him and forgives the servants debt. The man walks away  relieved and full of life because he has been forgiven. Now this servant runs into someone who owes him money (around $10) the other servant isn't able to pay him back, so instead of forgiving his debt, he throws him in jail. The king finds out about it and calls him "You wicked servant. I canceled all your debt because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had Mercy on your fellow servant?"
YES, it's difficult to forgive someone who has hurt you, but think of how many other times we have been forgiven when we didn't deserve it and how JESUS forgave us when we didn't deserve it. We need to extend that same mercy and grace that was given to us.

"Being hurt is painful, but don't let your emotions dictate your action."

I'll leave you with a quote from the book:

Don't get older: Live realistically
Give generously.
Adapt willingly.
Trust fearlessly.
Rejoice Daily.
